The development concepts of the Department are as follows:

  • Students are encouraged to participate in, and even initiate, socially constructive activities (such as children's camps and helping the aged) in the local communities in Puli.
  • Students are free to expand their reading through the “Inter-Library Exchange Program of the Universities of Central Taiwan.” The University and the Department libraries constantly receive book donations.
  • The Department plans to cooperate with the Department of Southeast Asian Studies and the Indigenous Program in the University.
  • In order to meet the needs of research, it is essential for graduate students to conduct field works at home and abroad.

The focus of the Department means that we have a close relationship with the Committee for the Promotion of Ming-Qing Studies, Academia Sinica.
